William Henry “Bill” Wasson, 83, passed away on February 6, 2026, after a long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Monday, February 16, 2026, in the event room at Doc’s Lounge (8805 Chambery Rd., Johnston).
Born on February 24, 1942, in Des Moines, Iowa, he was raised by his mother, Nellie “Nell” Bickford and his stepfather, Lauren “Bic” Bickford. Bill attended High School in Johnston, IA. He married Lynda (Leavengood) Wasson in 1968, living in Johnston until his passing.
He held multiple jobs as a young adult, but his most rewarding was working in the construction trade and being a proud union worker.
In his free time and after retirement, he enjoyed cold drinks with friends and neighbors on his deck known as “Billy World”. He enjoyed corgi dogs, raising animals, fishing, long drives in his ‘31 Dodge Coupe, morning walks, bonfires, yardwork, gardening, and traveling, visiting St. Pete Beach, Florida, Jamaica, Turks, Dominican Republic, Lake Tahoe, and Arizona.
Bill is survived by his loving partner, Judy Greaves; his children, Renee Brandow, Marilyn (Anthony) Bauer, Eric Wasson, Tracy (Richard) Walker-Andraschko, Michelle (Steve) Pohlmeyer; and his nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lynda Wasson; his parents; and his brothers, Mike and Bruce Bickford.
