Wilbur “Len” Mash, 76, passed away November 27, 2025.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at St. Paul Lutheran Church (1100 S.E. Sharon Dr., Ankeny). The service will be live streamed at https://www.youtube.com/@StPaulLutheranChurchAnkenyIA/streams.
Len was born on August 23, 1949, to Wilbur and Lois (Sherry) Mash. He was raised in Dallas Center, IA.
He met his devoted love, Lynn, in 1997 and they spent the next 28 years enjoying their life together.
Len, a proud Army veteran, served as a tank operator in Vietnam where he earned a Purple Heart for injuries sustained during his service.
Len provided for his family by working as a truck driver, later taking that experience into the classroom to teach new drivers at DMACC Transportation Institute.
His work ethic was untouchable; he always made time to balance work and family, making sure his children and grandchildren were always happy. Len enjoyed woodworking, spending time with his family, and made it to as many school and sporting events for his grandkids as he could.
Len is survived by his devoted companion, Lynn Powell; his children, Chris (Kim) Mash, Chuck (Tracy) Mash, Michelle Powell, and Matt Powell; grandchildren, Drew, Teagan, Piper, Rylen, Dakota, Ava and Angel; and siblings Dick, Deb and Ronnie.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer you make a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project in Len’s name.
