Todd Heagle was born on August 29, 1965, in Appleton, Wisconsin, to Earl and Judy Heagle. On November 9, 2025, Todd peacefully entered the kingdom of Heaven, surrounded by his devoted family, after courageously facing a three-year battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). Though his journey on earth has ended, his spirit of love, faith, and joy lives on forever in the hearts that knew him.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N Ankeny Blvd). A funeral service will take place at 10:30 am on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Ankeny First United Methodist Church - Christian Life Center (710 NE 36th St, Ankeny, IA 50021), with a luncheon and burial to follow.
Todd graduated from Ankeny High School in 1984, excelling both on and off the field – running track, playing football, and forming friendships that lasted a lifetime. His passion for teamwork continued as he played defensive back for Dana College, where he earned his degree in Finance. He later retired from Apria Home Healthcare after 25 years managing the district offices in Des Moines and Ottumwa.
On May 2, 1992, he married the love of his life, Lisa (Johnson) Heagle. Together they built a beautiful family rooted in love, laughter, and faith. Todd and Lisa were blessed with three incredible children – Paige, Cole, and Jordan – who were truly the light of his life. Recently, Todd’s heart grew even fuller as he welcomed his daughter-in-law, Emily, and first grandchild, Colter “Colt” Todd, who brought immeasurable joy and pride to his final year.
Todd lived each day with purpose, generosity, and a smile that could light up any room. Whether he was coaching his kids’ teams, fishing or hunting outdoors, or manning the grill at a tailgate, Todd brought people together. His legendary cooking, contagious laughter, and welcoming spirit turned every gathering into a celebration. A loyal Green Bay Packers fan and lover of all things outdoors - golfing, biking, or simply spending time in God’s creation - Todd embraced life with gratitude and adventure.
Todd’s greatest legacy is the love he poured into his family and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Lisa; their children, Paige (Tommy Kissen), Cole (Emily Allee), and Jordan; and his treasured grandson, Colter. He is also lovingly remembered by his parents, Judy Slania and Earl Heagle; his siblings, Kim Sokol, Kelly (John) Chambers, and Cory Heagle; and many nieces, nephews, and friends who became family. Todd is welcomed into Heaven by his mother-in-law, Marcia Johnson.

My deepest sympathy to the entire family at this difficult time. Lisa, you and your family cared for Todd so courageously and gracefully through all the difficulties this disease presents. Your warrior has finally gone to rest and may he find the peace he so deserves. Glad he is no longer suffering. May a cure be found some day soon for PSP. God Bless you. Hugs and Love, Mo Deacy (fellow PSP caregiver).
It is not goodbye, but a celebration of the life of someone who meant so much to all of us — my brother, Todd. I say brother, not brother-in-law, because from the time I was ten years old, Todd has been part of my life and my heart.
Todd was one-of-a-kind. He wasn't just a husband, a dad, a son, a brother, or a friend — he was the glue that held so many good times together. Whether it was tailgating, golfing, fishing, grilling, hanging by the pool, or cheering on his beloved Green Bay Packers, Todd brought energy, laughter, and love to every moment.
He loved one thing more than the Packers — and that was his family. He gave his wife, my sister, and their kids the very best life filled with love, adventure, and memories that will last forever. From barbecues to game day tailgates, from long talks to loud laughs, Todd lived for those moments with the people he loved most.
I will all miss him deeply — the digs during the Packers vs. Cowboys games, the golf outings, the tailgates, the jokes, and his mischievous chuckle. He leaves behind an empty chair at the table, but also a full heart in each of us who were lucky enough to know him.
To his mom and dad, his sisters and brother, his nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles — I am so sorry for your loss. We have lost someone truly special.
Todd's greatest blessing in his final days was the time he spent with his grandson, Colter Todd — the little guy who proudly carries his name. What a gift that was!
Though we grieve today, we can also take comfort knowing Todd is no longer suffering from PSP. He's free now — talking, running, laughing, walking!
Because now, we are his Lambeau Field. And Todd has a front-row seat on the 50-yard line, watching over all of us — cheering us on, just as he always did.
Todd will never be forgotten. We will talk about him often, laugh about our memories, and keep his spirit alive in every story, every tailgate, every Sunday game. His legacy is love, laughter, and loyalty — to his family and friends.
Rest easy, kid. We'll carry you with us always.
There are few people in this world who truly leave an imprint on your heart, and my uncle was one of them. He was a man of deep faith, a follower of Jesus through and through, and he lived his life in a way that reflected the love, grace, and humility of our Lord. His selflessness was unmatched — he always put others before himself, not because he had to, but because that's simply who he was.
Some of my favorite memories growing up are the ones I shared with him. Hunting and fishing together as a boy, Christmas time as a family, and staying over at his home whenever I could. He always made me feel welcome, like I belonged. He never missed a football game if he could help it and was ready to fire up the grill after the game to feed everyone. My friends couldn't believe how good his food was. Before long, word had spread — more players and families started showing up to those post-game gatherings, all wanting a taste of what he'd made and to be part of the joy he brought with him. He had this special gift for bringing people together through food, laughter, and love. It was clear that making people happy was his greatest joy.
We shared a lot more than just meals and memories. We loved the same shows and could watch the Discovery Channel for hours, talking about how incredible it would be to live in Alaska — a simple, peaceful life surrounded by the beauty of the outdoors. Whenever we were together, we'd joke, laugh, and trade wild college stories that always ended with both of us smiling.
As I've gotten older, I've come to realize how much of the man I've become was shaped by what I saw in him. He exemplified patience, forgiveness, and love in every way. He showed me what it meant to be a husband, a father, a son, a brother, and an uncle. His love for his wife, Lisa, was something I'll never forget — the way they cared for each other, shared words of love, and always made time for one another, even if it was simply a backrub, showed a young boy the importance of showing your love for one another. He worked hard, showed up for his kids every day, and somehow still made sure everyone else around him felt cared for, too.
He taught me, by action, that being a man isn't about pride or perfection — it's about love, faith, and sacrifice. He lived that truth every single day.
While my heart aches knowing he's gone, I find peace and joy in knowing where he is — with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His faith never wavered, and now he's home, whole and free, surrounded by eternal light and love.
Uncle Todd, thank you for everything you taught me, for every laugh we shared, every meal you cooked, every hug, and every quiet moment that made life richer. You were, and always will be, one of the best men I've ever known. I'll carry your example with me always and do my best to live the way you did — with faith, kindness, and a heart full of love. I love you Uncle Todd!
Deepest sympathy to the entire Heagle family in the loss of Todd. God Bless!
