Obituary For Susan Lee Mulhall

Susan Lee Mulhall, 73, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 PM on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd, Ankeny, Iowa 50023). Private family burial will be on Friday, January 30, 2026.

Sue was born in Ripon, Wisconsin to Thomas and Mary Truss. She graduated from Hoover High School in Des Moines in 1970 and attended Iowa State University where she met Greg Mulhall on a blind date. They got married on October 6, 1973, and were married for 52 years. On their wedding anniversaries, Greg would buy Sue red roses for every year they were married.

They had three children, Carrie, Karen and Ryan. They resided in many places throughout Iowa before settling in Ankeny in 1982. They enjoyed life watching their kids play sports, attending Iowa State football and basketball games, and traveling. Sue loved Christmas and proudly displayed themed trees in every room of the house.

Sue is survived by her husband, Greg; daughters, Carrie Van Daff (David) and Karen Latcham (TJ); son, Ryan (Lindsey); grandchildren, Hannah Sue, Tommy, Matthew, Paige, Patrick, Will; and brother, Tom Truss (Amy).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Truss, Mary and Warren Burgess; and sister, Sandy Craig.

The family would like to thank UnityPoint palliative care and in-home hospice for their exceptional care of Sue.

Marklund makes everyday life possible for individuals with profound disabilities and has lovingly cared for Sue’s dear grandson, Matthew Van Daff, the last thirteen years.
