Stacie Lynn Schmidt, 46, passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2026, in Ankeny, IA.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd., Ankeny).
Stacie was born on April 11, 1979, in Carroll, IA to David and Norma (Hildman) Lemker. She spent her childhood on Quint Avenue, where she enjoyed an active and lively upbringing surrounded by neighborhood friends. She graduated from Carroll High School and later attended Kirkwood Community College and the University of Iowa. Throughout her life, Stacie explored a variety of career paths, but her true passion was always baking. She found joy in creating treats for the people she loved and took pride in perfecting her craft.
Stacie embraced a wide range of hobbies and interests. She enjoyed experimenting with homebrews, spending peaceful hours outdoors on the porch, tending to her garden, and spoiling her beloved dog, Zoey. Music was a constant companion in her life, especially when she was jamming to Tool. She also loved reading and staying engaged with her political interests.
For a few winters, Stacie traded Iowa’s cold for the warmth of St. Croix, where she fully embraced island life. She soaked up the sun, made meaningful connections with locals, and even became involved with the community’s HOA. Those seasons on the island were among her most cherished adventures.
Stacie is survived by her parents, David and Norma Lemker of Ankeny; her grandmother, Wilma (Billie) Gilbert; her siblings, Michelle Lemker (Tony Hill) and Brian Lemker (Maria O’Rourke); her nieces and nephew, Amanda (Drew) Mallonee and their daughter, Nora; Colton Trecker (Autumn Keleture), and Rhen Bock (Tony Reed); as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. She is also survived by her loyal dog, Zoey, who brought her endless comfort and companionship.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Roy and Agnes Lemker; her grandfather, John “Jack” Hildman; her step-grandfather, Burton Gilbert; and her beloved cat, Neville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa in Stacie’s name, honoring her love for animals.

The other day I was going thru a box of old photographs —how is it possible this was almost 30 years ago?! I found our prom pictures from junior and senior year! Stacie was radiant! Do you remember the maroon dress? And then the white/silk slip? I remember the day we picked it out at Victoria's Secret-she had a vision and a style all her own! ♥️😍
Even though our time was brief (in the scheme of things), it was so impactful to my life and I am so grateful for the amazing memories I have with her. Stacie truly was a beautiful soul and I am saddened that the world is left without her. Much love to you both, Jen (Anderson) Filloon
Norma, I was shocked and saddened to hear about Stacie's passing. We hadn't seen each other in many years, but I have countless fond memories of our time together in high school. I'm deeply sorry for this terrible loss. Wishing you peace and joy in your memories and knowledge that Stacie is at peace as well. With deepest sympathy, Justine (Rubendall) Zirbes
