Sandra (Sandi) Kay Miller, 82, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026, surrounded by the love she spent a lifetime building.
A visitation will be held from 4:30 – 6:30 PM, Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at St. Paul Lutheran Church (1100 S.E. Sharon Dr., Ankeny). A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday May 7, 2026, also at the church with a graveside service following at 2:30 p.m., at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden, Iowa.
Sandy was born on July 12, 1943, in Perry, Iowa, to Harry and Martha (Fairchild) Kruse. Sandi grew up in Beaver, Iowa, and graduated from Ogden High School in 1961; the beginning of a life that would always find its truest meaning in the people around her.
Sandi was, above all else, a family woman. She was not defined by a title or a career, but by the warmth of her presence in every room she entered, and the deep, steady love she poured into every person lucky enough to call her their own.
A lifelong woman of faith, Sandi was baptized on September 12, 1943, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden, Iowa, confirmed on April 14, 1957, and most recently a member of St. Paul Lutheran in Ankeny, Iowa.
On August 6, 1977, Sandi married Anthony (Tony) Miller, and together they built a life rich in laughter, loyalty, and devotion. For 48 years, Tony was her partner, her person, and her home. Their love was the kind that anchored everyone around them.
Sandi worked for the Ogden Municipalities for 33 years, retiring in 2004. In her free time, she was a devoted Iowa Hawkeyes fan and an even bigger Chicago Cubs fan who treasured every chance to cheer them on — and nothing compared to the thrill of watching them win live at Wrigley Field.
Sandi did not measure her life in accomplishments; she measured it in Sunday dinners, phone calls with family and friends, grandchildren who ran to her, and the quiet moments that only the people who loved her will carry forever. She gave generously, loved fiercely, and left behind a family that is a testament to everything she was. Her legacy will live on in each of the lives in which she invested so heavily.
She was not just loved; she was the reason so many people know how to love.
Sandi is survived by her husband, Tony Miller; her children, Dena (Jay) Heeren of Jewell, IA, Lance (Melissa) Nath of Pleasant Hill, IA, Theresa (Terry) French of West Concord, MN, and Debra (Steven) Banderman of Ankeny, IA; her brother, Daryl Kruse of Boone, IA; twelve grandchildren, Ashley (Levi) Robson, Chelsea Gerard, Austin (Jalyn) Heeren, Carter (Caley) Nath, Kristina (Tyler) Helfert, Jakob (Natalie) Nath, Brennan (Megan) Banderman, Nathaniel (Mia) Banderman, Emma Banderman, Anna Banderman, Lindsay (Nick) Barthelme, and Brittany (Rayyan) Taufiq, and seventeen great-grandchildren, Sadie and Jase Gerard, Kaden and Jaxon Robson, Adley and Briley Heeren, Aiden McLory, Emilee McNamara, Ashton, Oliver, Ezra Taufiq, Saige and Lainey Banderman, Martin and Louis Helfert, and Wilder and Leland Nath.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Martha Kruse; her brother, Melvin (Buddy) Leroy Kruse; and her sister-in-law, Lila Kruse.
