Obituary For Russell Lee Lambertz

Russell “Russ” Lee Lambertz, 64, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, IA.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd.) with a time of sharing at 11:30 a.m.

Russ was born January 4, 1961, to Joseph and Barbara Lambertz in Dubuque, IA. He began his career in grocery working at Hy-Vee as an assistant manager, then went on to work as a food broker/sales representative for Acosta, Mueller Yurgae, and Hanson Faso.

Spending time with his kids, family, and friends was most important to Russ. He enjoyed attending his grandkids’ events, hosting grill outs, going out for Margaritas and Mexican food, and helping others with home projects. He was a fan of classic cars, movies, and classic rock music. He also loved traveling the country, but Florida and the beach were where he was happiest.

He found his purpose being a father and grandfather, and helping others. Whether it was helping someone get a job, replacing a friend’s flooring, or painting a friend’s house, Russ was happy to show up. He will be remembered for his love and devotion to his family, his enjoyment of making people laugh, and his endless generosity.

Russ is survived by his children, Morgan Lambertz, Joseph (Nicole) Lambertz, Emily Lambertz, Ryan Lambertz, and Jessica (Adam) Kelley; mother, Barbara Lambertz; grandchildren, Isla Ferriss, Garrett Dockum, Larissa Dockum, Payton Kelley, and Sophie Kelly; great-grandchild, Ryder Dockum; siblings, Lori (Dean) Taggart, and Michael “Mike” (Lynda) Lambertz; and many other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Lambertz; and grandparents, Frank and Mary Lambertz and Elmer and Mabel Kisgen.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Taylor House Hospice and University of Iowa Health Care-Huntington’s Disease Center of Excellence for the exceptional care Russ received.
