Obituary For Rozella Jane Ruggles

Rozella Jane (Koffler) Ruggles, born August 6, 1939, to Peter and Elnora Koffler of Bowman, North Dakota, went home to be with the Lord December 24, 2025, in Ankeny, Iowa.

A memorial service will be held Friday, January 2, 2026, at Word of Victory Church (1402 W. 1st Street, Ankeny) with a luncheon to follow.

Rozella was the eighth of eleven children. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, George and Dan; her sisters, Eva, Jenny, Carol, and Marge; and her husband of 53 years, Keith.

She is survived by her brother, Stan; sisters, Irene, Gladys, and Dorothy; three children, Brian Ruggles of Des Moines, Iowa, Wendy (Ruggles) Martin of Bixby, Oklahoma, and Todd Ruggles of Ankeny, Iowa; eleven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends remain to remember her as well.

Rozella spent over 50 years of her life in North Dakota, graduating from Bowman High School in 1957 and marrying Keith Ruggles of New England, North Dakota in 1965. She and Keith moved to Bixby, Oklahoma to be near their children and lived there for 25 years. In 2018, they moved to Ankeny, Iowa where she resided until her death.

She was never fond of the name Rozella and was more commonly known as Rose, Rosie, or Mom to those who knew her best. She loved to read, play games, was a prolific letter writer, and loved baking delicious goodies. She was a wonderful cook and loved being a hostess as much as her guests enjoyed her food. Her grandchildren and then great-grandchildren were the light of her life and brought her much joy.

She always wanted her life to point others to Jesus and her last wish was for her entire family to be reunited in heaven one day.

She would share anything she had and wanted to help others in any way that she could. She was a dearly loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be missed more than words can express, but we know she is exactly where she wanted most to be, with her loving Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
