Ronald James “Ronnie Jim” “Fuzzy” Miles, 79, of Newton passed away peacefully May 28, 2026.
A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from noon to 2pm, at the enclosed shelter in Grandview Park on Easton Blvd in Des Moines.
He was born January 18, 1947, in Auburn, Iowa, to Reo Richard Miles, and Cyrila (Olberding) Miles. He graduated from St. Bernards in Breda, IA, and continued his educational endeavors at United Electronics Technical School.
He married Beverly Cooper February 25, 1967. Together the couple had a son, Ronald Dean Miles, and then a daughter, Victoria Lynn Miles.
He later married Sharon “Sheri” Modlin from December 5, 1998 - July 28, 2000.
He worked many jobs throughout his life, most notably, Pittsburg Steele, Hanifen Towing, D & E Autobody, and Iowagien Buggy Works.
His interests included antique gas engines, Valkyrie motorcycles, and four wheeling.
Ron is survived by his daughter, Victoria “Vicki” (Eric) Kinsey, of Cleveland, TN; grandchildren, Timothy “TJ” Hoffman Jr., of Kansas City, MO, Jamie (Herlyn) Hoffman of Cleveland, TN, Aquarius (Brittany) Hoffman of East Ridge, TN, Kelsi (Andrew) Cline of Ft. Oglethorpe, GA, Chris Folsom of Cleveland, TN, and Reed Folsom of Cleveland, TN; great grandchildren, Chance Hoffman, Mike Coggins, Natalie Hoffman, Kimber Sanders, Kylie Sanders, Bri Hoffman, Vladimir Hoffman, Mariella Hoffman, Lilith Hoffman, Willow Hoffman, Raelynn Neff, Ava Lynn Neff, Pandora Cline, Abby Blaze Cline, and Rowen Clare Folsom; sister, Lila (Ron) Marconcini of Omaha, NE; nieces, Roxanne Cabrales, Tina (Tim) Ainsworth and Debbie Nichols; and nephew, Donald (Shannon) Nichols.
Ron was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ruth “Granny” Miles; parents, Reo Richard Miles and Cyrilla Corina (Olberding) Miles; sister, Betty Lou Burt; son, Ronald Dean Miles; nephews, Rodney Nichols and Reo Allen Nichols; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Joshua Lukenbill and staff at Mission Cancer Center for the compassionate care of their loved one and caring comfort and support of their family.
