Robin Dawn Maggert, 69, of Altoona, Iowa, passed away July 20, 2025. She was born December 23, 1955, in Des Moines, Iowa to Fred and Jean Long.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 28, 2025, at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd).
A lifelong resident of the Des Moines area, Robin attended Ankeny High School and the University of Northern Iowa. She had a passion of quilting, taking day trips and shopping with her husband, Mike, watching her grandkids in sports, volunteering for AHeinz Pet Rescue and spending time at her daughter’s pool with her granddaughters Ali and Georgia.
Before her passing, she had been the Office Manager for Sheet Metal Worker’s Union #45 for over 15 years.
She was an avid fan of the Iowa State Cyclones and Ankeny Hawks. She loved watching college sports. March Madness was one of her favorite times of the year, most especially during her mother, Jean’s, life – where they would enjoy seeing who had the winning bracket!
Robin is survived by her husband, Mike; daughter, Jessica (Bill) Friend; son, Jeffrey (Chelsea) Gasperi; sisters, Debbie (Willie) Brown, and Connie (Rick) Huff; brothers, Mike Long, and Mark (Marci) Long; 11 grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Jean Long.
Memorials can be made to Aheinz Pet Rescue and the First United Methodist Church of Ankeny.

I've shared emails and phone calls with Robin for over 9 years. She was wonderful to work with. I only got to meet her in person once. I made her a wooden picture with her favorite bible verse on it. "Be Still, and know I am God." She will be greatly missed!
We are all saddened to hear of Robin's passing. She was all things to all of us here at Local 45. She was the glue that held us all together. She was the go to person for any question regardless if it was business or personal. Our agents are going to have a difficult time filling Robin's shoes. Our hearts, prayers and thoughts go out to Robin's family and friends! Rest in peace Robin!
I always enjoyed talking to Robin when I called the union hall she was always very helpful and if she didn't have the answer immediately she always worked to get it and when I went to the hall she was always had a welcoming smile going to miss that smile. Prayers for comfort for Mike and the family
