Obituary For Roberta Irene Strother
Roberta “Bobbie” Irene Strother passed away on November 30, 2025, at the age of 85, at the Mill Pond retirement community in Ankeny, Iowa. A visitation will be held at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (517 SW Des Moines St., Ankeny, Iowa) on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 9:30 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. The funeral will be livestreamed at the following link: https://bit.ly/htlc-funeral
Bobbie was born on October 14, 1940, and raised in Monroe, Iowa. Following high school, she obtained a degree from Drake University in the education field. She then embarked on a long career in education teaching students at several schools in Ankeny. She truly loved teaching and cared deeply about her students and colleagues.
On February 21, 1964, Bobbie married the love of her life, Ronald “Ron” Strother, and remained happily married for 60 years until Ron's passing in 2024. Bobbie and Ron lived in Ankeny, Iowa for most of their 60 years where they raised their only child, Todd Strother. Bobbie was a devoted wife, mother, friend, and was known for her warmth, humor, and generosity. She was an amazing grandmother to her grandchildren, Haiden and Gable, who will always cherish their time at "Grandma Bobbie's house" as well as the many family trips to Disney World together.
Bobbie and Ron were loyal members of the Ankeny Golf & Country Club for many years, and she cherished the friendships she developed there. They were regulars at the country club and enjoyed many nights with their friends in the clubhouse. She and Ron shared a love for the Iowa Hawkeyes and were season ticket holders for many years.
Bobbie is survived by her son, Todd (Dana), her grandchildren, Haiden and Gable, and her extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron and by her parents, Robert and Irene Ramsey.

I taught elementary art at Terrace when Bobbie was a 1st grade teacher in my pod. She later taught 5th grade at the same school. She was such a kind person and a good teacher. I have fond memories of the years we were together. My sympathy to Todd and family. The grandkids will miss their grandmother.
