Obituary For Norman Leroy Bebout

Norman Leroy Bebout, 86, of Ankeny, passed away Friday, August 28, 2026, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines following a sudden stroke on August 3, 2026.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church (510 E 1st St, Ankeny, IA). A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon following the service, also at the church. Interment will take place at Gosport Cemetery in Knoxville, Iowa.

Norman was born October 16, 1939, in Columbia, IA, to Glenn and Isabel Bebout. He graduated from Garden Grove High School in 1957, and married Susan Ruth on July 8, 1961. Together they raised four children.

Norman spent nearly 50 years of his career as a Meat Department Manager at Hy-Vee. Susan raised their four children at home and later in life cherished her time working at the Emporium and for the City of Mountain View, California.

Norman enjoyed spending time with his family, his friends at the Ankeny Senior Center, and the great friends he grew up with. He treasured his 58 years of marriage to Susan and their many trips to Fort Myers, Florida, with friends.

Norman is survived by his children, Kimberly (Randy) Kendall, Mike (Cristina) Bebout, Carole Bebout, and Steven Bebout; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and his cherished extended family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan; his parents, Glenn and Isabel; and his brothers, Fred and Larry.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Norman Bebout’s name to Taylor House Hospice.
