Mitzi was born on November 25, 1933, and raised in the close-knit community of Ringsted, Iowa. She was a proud graduate of Ringsted High School in 1951 and went on to attend Mankato Business College. She began her career at the 3M Corporation in Fairmont, Minnesota, before she moved to Ankeny, Iowa, in 1958 with her husband, Bob, whom she married in 1957.
In Ankeny, she dedicated many years to the State of Iowa Legislature, serving as a secretary in the House of Representatives before joining the Iowa Code Editor's office, where she worked from 1977 until her retirement in 1994.
Mitzi also found immense joy in her hobbies. She was an accomplished flower gardener, baker, and a member of several bridge groups in Ankeny, where she honed her card skills and made lasting friendships. She was also a member of P.E.O., an organization dedicated to supporting women's education and advancement. Mitzi also loved a good puzzle and had a delightful routine of completing the daily Sudoku puzzle from the newspaper, a small challenge she relished. She was a talented crocheter and needlepoint artist, creating countless beautiful pieces over the years.
Her life was a testament to the power of quiet strength, dedication to family, and a love for simple pleasures. Mitzi is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, Robert “Bob” Scott; her son, David (Karen) Scott; her daughter-in-law, Andrea Scott; and her grandchildren, Jackie, Greg, and Makena.
She was preceded in death by her son, Bradley Scott; her parents, Thorvald and Emma Christensen; and her brother, Roger Christensen.
