Julie (Ostrander) Weber, 68, of Ankeny, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00pm-6:00pm on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N Ankeny Blvd). A vigil will be held at 5:45pm.
Julie was born on December 19, 1956, in Fort Dodge and was the first of six children of Robert and Beverly. She was the classic “big sister”, always taking care of her younger siblings. She attended Holy Rosary grade school, North Junior High and attended and graduated from St. Edmond in the class of 1975. Following high school graduation, she spent time in California before returning to Iowa. Julie was married in 1980 and had two children, Matthew and Molly.
Julie spent most of her career in the grocery industry, where she focused on customer service, working for Hy-Vee for the last 18 years. Julie loved her customers and her fellow employees; it was her favorite part of her job. Shortly after starting at Hy-Vee in Waterloo, Julie met Rick Weber, who became her husband in 2010. Julie and Rick loved to travel, go camping and fishing, and spending time outdoors, especially in Hawaii, her favorite place in the world. After losing her husband in 2019, Julie moved to Ankeny to be close to her daughter and her family.
Julie’s four grandchildren were her entire life, she loved every second she had with them. She loved to spoil them, making sure ice cream and candy were always available, no matter the time of day. She always said, “it’s her right as a grandma.”
Julie is survived by her children, Matt (Tricia) Olson of Farmington, MN and Molly (Erica) Olson of Ankeny, IA; her step daughters, Kelly Weber and Kayla Weber of Cambridge, MD; her grandchildren, Jacob Olson, Nathan Olson, Raelynn Olson and Everett Olson; her siblings, Chuck (Connie) Ostrander of Granbury, TX, Mark (Dana) Ostrander of Ankeny, Jim (Dawn) Ostrander of Lincoln, NE, and Lori Corlett of Isle of Man; and her uncle, Terry John Lindberg of Austin, TX. Julie was preceded in death by her husband, Rick; her parents, Robert (Skip) and Beverly; her brother, Michael; and her nephew, Charlie.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.

So very sorry to learn of Julie's passing. We had been friends since the 6th grade and our families were close all of these years as well. So thankful I got to see and visit with Julie at Skip's wake earlier this year. May her love and kindness sustain all of the Ostrander's and Olson's in the time to come.
I'm in shock hearing of Julie's passing. Although, being reunited with Rick was something she looked forward to. I'm so grateful I got to spend some time with her at Skip's visitation - especially since it would be the last time I'd see her. She was such a sweet soul and reminded me so much of her Mom. Sending my sincerest sympathies to Matt, Molly and her precious grandchildren who she loved so much. Also, to her dear siblings, my heart breaks for you. What an amazing family you were a part of. I will keep you all in my thoughts.
