Joseph “Joe” Dullard was born on March 12, 1938 to John and Marie Dullard of rural Maxwell, Iowa.
On February 24, 2026, his wife lost her favorite Irishman, her love, and husband of 65 years to Parkinson's disease at Mill Pond Skilled Care in Ankeny, IA.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd). Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at All Saints Catholic Church (650 NE 52nd Ave., Des Moines). Burial will take place at Ankeny Memorial Gardens.
Joe retired after 34 years as a service representative. He worked continually as his company changed from Allis-Chalmers to Deutz Allis to Agco Corporation. After retirement, he worked part time for 10 years at Pioneer Seed in soybean research, and he especially enjoyed the camaraderie with the other retirees. Joe loved working with his hands and could fix almost anything mechanical. He enjoyed working the custom cutter combines, gleaning the wheat fields from Texas to Canada, all the farm shows in the Midwest, and the one time he traveled to France for work.
His second love was music and dancing. He wintered in Texas and Arizona for 14 years and would go back home dancing Friday nights at the VFW and Lake Robbins Ballroom.
He was very proud of his Irish heritage and one of his best memories was a long-extended vacation in Ireland. He toured the whole island and visited the two counties where his great-grandparents lived before immigrating to the United States.
Joe was very proud of his sons and grandsons and all of their accomplishments. He fondly remembered all the wrestling tournaments and summer vacations in the Ozarks.
He is survived by his wife and partner, Lois Jane; sons, Stephen (Deb) and Daniel (Kristy); grandsons, Connor, Matthew (Carlieann), Blake, and Sean; brother, Thomas; sister-in-law, June Miller; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; younger brother, John; parents-in-law; six brothers-in-law; six sisters-in-law; and his sweet cock-a-poo dog, CocoChanel (17 years old).
Memorial donations can be directed to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research (P.O. Box 5014, Hagertown, MD 21741) or All Saints Catholic Church (650 NE 52nd Ave., Des Moines, IA 50313).

What a great guy and a great family! I will miss my Irish pal. My condolences to Janie and sons. This is wishing you peace and strength.
I want to express my sympathy to all of Joe's family because I will not be able to attend his visitation or funeral. I have texted with Janie, but want his family to know I am praying for God to draw you all close to Him n give you comfort.
Jane, There are no words I know that can help you thru the loss of Joe. But maybe a memory of mine can help. What I remember most about Joe is his laugh! I remember so many times when he and you would be over to my parents home and the laughter. I loved Joe's laugh. (we were neighbors, of course, and you two were such great friends to my parents BoJack and Charlene Hildreth). We will all miss Joe. Hugs from me to you! ❤️🫂
