Farley Emerson McIllece, a devoted man of faith and gentle spirit, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025, at the age of 66. Born on December 16, 1958, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Donald J. McIllece and Nancy Hall McIllece.
Farley was known for his kind heart, quiet wisdom, and unwavering faith. He carried a calm and thoughtful presence that touched everyone who knew him. His love of learning and dedication to service guided him through both his academic and professional life. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems from Iowa State University and later a Master’s degree in Teaching Certification from the University of Phoenix.
During his time at Iowa State, Farley was an active member of a campus religious group where his faith continued to deepen. He was also a proud member of the university's baseball team, combining his passion for sports with his resolute team spirit. A lifelong Minnesota Vikings fan, Farley rarely missed a game, cheering for his home team with pride.
Farley's favorite pastime outdoors was fishing. Whether it was a quiet lake or a peaceful riverbank, he found solace and joy with a fishing rod in hand. His work took him across the country, allowing him to see and appreciate the beauty of the United States, something he treasured deeply.
In his quieter moments, Farley enjoyed building plastic model cars, a hobby that reflected both his patience and mindfulness. He was also a dedicated student of the Bible, often reading and reflecting on scripture as a source of strength and guidance.
Farley was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents and his parents, Donald J. and Nancy Hall McIllece. Left to cherish his memory is his sister, Sabrina (Greg) Krichel, brother Jens McIllece, nephews Hunter Krichel, Grant Krichel and Luke McIllece, several cousins and numerous friends.
Farley cherished his family and friends. He loved them deeply and unconditionally, and that love was returned in abundance by those who knew him best. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith, intelligence, and love that will never be forgotten. A private graveside service will take place at a later date.
