Obituary For Evelyn Mae Crabtree

Evelyn Mae Crabtree, 91, of Ankeny, IA, made the transition from this life to life everlasting on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Kavanagh Hospice House in Des Moines, IA.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd). Burial will follow at Ankeny Memorial Gardens.

Evelyn was born in Iowa Falls, IA, on March 20, 1934, to Russell and Beulah Nehring. She grew up in Iowa Falls and graduated from Ames High School.

In 1955, she married Larry Bork, and had two children, Lynn and Holly. They later divorced, and Evelyn married her late, beloved husband, Bill Crabtree, in 1991.

Evelyn loved spending time with her family, friends, and neighbors. She was especially proud of her two grandchildren and enjoyed their many visits.

She was active in church, was a church secretary for many years, and was a member of Saylorville Church. She led an active lifestyle, exercising daily and dancing frequently. She was a member of the Central Chapter Polka Club.

Evelyn is survived by her son, Lynn (Sia) Bork of Des Moines, IA; daughter, Holly (Brian) Tiernan of Clear Lake, IA; grandchildren, Benjamin Tiernan of Garner, IA, and Angela (Collin) Byrnes of Osage, IA; and former spouse, Larry (Loretta) Bork.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill; parents, Russell and Beulah; and brother, Elden.
