Devin Cooper, 21, passed away on April 13, 2026, from complications of leukemia, after a journey marked by strength and grace. He was born on April 18, 2004.
A memorial service will be held on Devin’s 22nd birthday at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd). The memorial service will be livestreamed at the following link: https://vimeo.com/event/5868319
Devin loved all animals and held a special place in his heart for his beloved pets. He enjoyed tropical vacations, time with his family, and gaming on his Xbox. He was also a passionate fan of the NFL, especially the San Francisco 49ers.
Devin was a remarkable young man with dreams of a future in sports journalism. He hoped one day to call a professional football game on ESPN, combining his love of the game with his natural voice and enthusiasm. He was looking forward to his senior year at the University of Iowa.
He was gentle, funny, affectionate, and deeply loyal. Devin had a quiet way of making people feel safe and cared for, and his sense of humor brought lightness to those around him. He showed his love through closeness, kindness, and unwavering devotion, especially to his family and best friends. His presence was a comfort, and he will be remembered for the warmth and sincerity he gave so freely. He could win the award for “best hugger”.
Devin faced his illness with courage, never giving up. His resilience and spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his parents, Robyn and Scott, and his big brother, Davis.
The family would like to thank the team at Blank Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorder Center for their compassionate care and support.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family in care of Memorial Services of Iowa, for a future remembrance in Devin’s honor.

Scott, Robyn and Davis- I'm so sorry for your loss. Devin was always such a nice boy. When Charlie and Emma would come to visit their Nana and Papa C, they always looked forward to hanging out with Devin (their "Iowa friend"). They had such a good time playing in the yard, hanging at your house or walking around to find Pokémon. All of their adventures together will be cherished. Charlie and Devin had the same passions and I'm so glad they were able to stay connected as they grew older. I hope some of these memories will bring you comfort. With our deepest sympathies, Keri, Russ, Charlie and Emma DiVincenzo
As a coach of the Ankeny Jaguar Shooting Sports team it was nearly embedded in our DNA to dislike the "other" Ankeny team. That was easier until my family met Devin and the Cooper's. Devin was the kind of kid you wanted to see succeed no matter the uniform because of his infectious smile, positive outlook & genuine care for those around him. It's been a few days since I found out, and all I keep going to back to is how incredible people get put in our lives so that we can strive to be just a little bit better human. Thank you Devin. Our hearts all ache for the Coopers and everyone who Devin touched in his life. Matt, Sarah, Jackson, Jensen & Miller Deutsch
Sending my sincere condolence during this time. May you find happiness and joy in the time you had with your son that those memories will forever remain in your heart. Praying for you and all those who knew Devin.
We are terribly saddened to hear this and are praying for your family. May wonderful memories of Devin and God's promise of eternal life sustain you until you meet again.
You could count on a smile or acknowledgment from Devin anytime I would see him outside in the old neighborhood. Blessed to have known him, as well as his great family Davis, Robyn and Scott. I am here for you ❤️❤️
