Obituary For Delores Janet Ball

Delores “Dee” Ferguson Ball, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 27, 2026.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 3, 2026, at First United Methodist Church (516 Kellogg Ave., Ames, IA) followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am. A fellowship luncheon will be held following the services at the church. Burial will take place at Story Memorial Gardens in Ames, IA.

Delores was born on December 9, 1936, to Keith and Amelia Ferguson. She grew up with her brother, Jack, and sister, Darlene “Jitterbug” Ferguson. Delores attended school until she was 16 years old and then married her husband of 53 years, Clifford R. Ball. They had four children, nine grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. After all her children were in school full time, she went back to school and earned her high school diploma and associate’s degree in finance from Des Moines Area Community College. After earning her degree, she worked for the City of Ames.

Delores loved reading books, cooking, and teaching each one of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to bake cookies! She was a gentle, loving, and smart individual who never met a stranger she couldn’t turn into a friend. She loved spending time with family and friends the most.

She is survived by her son, James Ball of Nevada, IA; and her daughter, Linda Curnes of Ames, IA.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents, Keith and Amelia Ferguson; brother, Jack Ferguson; sister, Darlene Madden; husband, Cliff R. Ball; daughter, Vicki Hubby; and her son, Donald Ball.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request that you make a small donation in Dee’s name to your favorite charity.
