Dave you have left us way too early, you are going to be so missed. You were not only a true friend, but the best husband to my best friend Teri. We have shared so many fun times, from our vacations, to regular trips to the Ozarks with our six pack group, playing password until late hours, and trivia nights. You made everything so easy and fun. I will have your back while Teri and the girls work through your loss and we will continue sharing memories of you! Love you all!!
We cherish our memories of working with our dear friend. We have made a donation to campiowa.org in Dave's honor.
Dear Teri, Just a quick note to let you know that I am deeply sorry for your loss. Sincerely, Shelly Silver
I added 3 pictures of Dave from dorm life in Friley Hall at Iowa State. I had a few others but could not find them easily.God's peace, La Vonne
My thoughts are with Teri and her family. May your memories carry you through this difficult time! Please know I am thinking of all of you while you navigate the life ahead! Kathy Day Williamson
Condolences are due to all family and friends that got to share in Dave's lifetime. He was a good friend and roommate at ISU then houses and apartment mate post graduation in Cedar Rapids. I can only imagine the joy he had through marriage to "Bear" and raising cubs and all that came with it!
to Sommerlot family. You have my profound sympathy as you mourn Dave's death, celebrate his life and honor his legacy. I met Dave in 1973 when I came to Iowa State. His dorm floor and mine were brother/sister floors. He was best friends and roommates with my good friend Tom Hart. Those two made life fun for everyone. They kept an open door and many kids stopped to hang out a bit or say "Hi!" on our way to post office or dining hall. Dave was a good natured guy who was nice to all of us. I remember he had a tidy desk which he regularly dusted and lined up items in orderly way. I haven't seen him since college days but I will always remember his hearty laugh. I am so sorry I will not be able to join you to honor Dave at services Friday. I had stroke in 2013 and while I am thankful to be alive, I am not very mobile these days. I will keep you in my prayers. God's peace, LaVonne Anderson
I can't imagine the sadness, pain and heartache you're feeling. I'm praying for your comfort and peace.
