Cynthia K. Ford, 69, of Ankeny, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Lutheran Church of Hope (520 NW 36th Street, Ankeny).
Born to Delbert and Delores Feyereisen, Cindy grew up in Woodstock, Minnesota, and graduated from Pipestone High School. Soon after, she married the love of her life, George Ford, and together they shared 49 years of devotion, partnership, and joy.
They raised two beautiful children and built a life rooted in hard work as owners of Sherburn Nursery & Floral for 40 years. Cindy gave generously of her time, serving on numerous local committees and always finding ways to make every place she touched a little brighter.
After her retirement, she was able to enjoy her dream home by “the pond,” a place that brought her peace, pride, and countless cherished memories. She loved clothes and fashion and walked into the Funky Zebra Boutique in Ankeny where they offered her the retirement job. She loved her time at this boutique.
She was always in motion, guided by ideas and inspiration, transforming every space she touched into something beautiful and meaningful. Whether crafting, gardening, painting, decorating, or dreaming up new possibilities, her hands and her heart were never still.
Her creativity was more than talent; it was a way of seeing the world. She inspired those around her to look with imagination, purpose, and joy. Her gifts extended far beyond the things she made. She had a remarkable ability to create connections, bringing people together through joyful gatherings as well as quiet, heartfelt conversations.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, George; her daughters, Kate (Justin) Bliesmer of Ankeny and Tracie (Tucker) Schumann of Sherburn; her most treasured blessings, her grandchildren, Julia, Grayson, Cooper, and Cable; her sisters, Judy (Roger) Quiram, Debbie Feyereisen (Special Friend Doug), Connie (Chris) Haugen; her brother, Jim (Joy) Feyereisen; many nieces and nephews; and her cherished in‑laws.
She is also survived by her very special friends, Larry and Linda Bell, with whom she shared miles of memories and countless adventures on their beloved “Bell-Ford” trips.
She will be fondly remembered by her dear friends from the Funky Zebra Boutique.

My deepest sympathy to George and Cindy's entire family. I was so saddened to learn of Cindy's passing. I knew the Fords through the Sherburn Nursery business as they did landscaping for me in both Jackson and here in Fairmont, and also did a beautiful job of wedding decorations for my daughter's wedding. Cindy always had a smile on her face and was so likable and friendly. She will truly be missed by many.
My condolences to all of Cindy's family. I grew up in Woodstock and a classmate & friend of Cindy's younger sister Connie & know her brother Jim pretty well. I remember Cindy mostly through my older sister Diane, hanging around the Feyereisen farm & riding the school bus. Cindy was always so kind to me and those around her. My heart is heavy for your deep loss and may God give you strength & peace through the beautiful memories 🙏🙏
Cousin Cindy was always full of smiles! We didn't get together a lot as young kids, but, whenever we did it was a fun time! I'm so sorry I can't make it to her service, but, sending love and hugs to the whole family.😔🥰🥰
Our family was very grateful to have known Cindy as our neighbor the past few years.. sharing gardening secrets, harvests, and the joy she brought to the children will be remembered dearly. Praying for healing for George and the family...
Thinking of you at this difficult time. Remembering Cindy from the times we worked together at church functions, took part in C & C decisions, and helped with flowers for my kids' weddings and other functions. She was a delight to work with. May your memories also help in the days ahead. With sympathy, Mary
I loved Cindy! She was a beautiful soul! She deeply loved her family and friends! Cindy had many sweet qualities and abilities and I was blessed to be her friend for over 40 years! I looked forward to our Sunday morning coffee hours where she always greeted me with the door open and a Hi Vivy!! We solved all the problems we could over a good cup! I miss you my friend and love you! Our deepest sympathies to George, Katie, Justin, Tracie, Tucker and and her precious grandchildren!
Hard-working, caring, funny, (she sometimes reminded me of Carol Burnett) thoughtful, loved Jesus & her family! When we would have a cold one, she NEVER put olives in her beer, she called them silage balls 😆. Every time I plant flowers, I think of Cindy. This spring will be a different kind of planting year. 😢 I will miss her dearly. My deepest sympathy to George, Katie, Tracie, her entire family & her dear friends. Heaven will be more beautiful now that she's there!
Truly the kindest woman I have ever met. Cindy was always doing something for everyone. She loved George and her daughters and grandchildren with her whole heart. We picked up her granddaughter one time and I went along. It was a 3 hour drive back and we sang the wheels on the bus go round and round almost all the way home. I had forgotten the words, but she new them by heart. I will miss her with my whole heart. She introduced me to alot of great people in Sherburn, when I moved here. Fly high my friend 🧡 Vicki
