Cory was born on October 3, 1981, in Carroll, Iowa to Robert (Bob) and Mary Wiederin. As the only son with four sisters, he wore the title proudly providing protection, humor, and a heart full of honest love. Cory attended Carroll High School and was a proud Carroll Tiger, participating in football, baseball, and wrestling. In spring of 2006, Cory graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State. He decided to pursue a different career and graduated from Mercy College of Nursing in 2011.
Cory met the love and light of his life, Brittany, in the fall of 2006 and were united in marriage on October 16, 2010. Together they raised their two greatest joys, Kellen and Beckett. In 2016, Cory completed his education as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. For the next nine years, Cory provided exceptional anesthesia care to his patients throughout the Des Moines metro.
Cory, the Champion of Handle Hard Better, had the most unwavering love for his family. Family was everything for Cory. Cory loved nothing more than watching and coaching Kellen and Beckett in their various sporting activities, taking them down to the pond to fish, or doing the next Lego set together. Cory made it a mission to play catch every day for a year with his boys. Cory instilled in Kellen and Beckett that same attitude and effort which will take them far in life, and when life gets hard, to Handle Hard Better.
Cory was an avid Iowa State and Chicago Cubs fan. He was a man of strength and a true warrior. He made everyone feel seen and genuinely cared about others. Cory always had a smile on his face, providing us with his quick wit humor, even when he was feeling his worst. Those that knew Cory, loved Cory.
Cory is survived by his wife, Brittany Wiederin; two young sons, Kellen and Beckett; parents, Bob and Mary Wiederin; siblings, Wendi (Ben) Fagan, Rachel (Mark) Jackson, Lacey (Brandon) Laubscher, Andrea (Andy) Rohe; maternal grandma, Darlene Niehaus; father-in-law, Steve Klein; in-laws, Lynn (Laramie) Sandquist, Stacy (Andrew) Roble; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Bonnie Klein; and maternal and paternal grandparents.
