Obituary For Charles Scott Henry

Charles Scott Henry, 39, of Johnston, passed away at his home on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.

A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 5, 2026, at the Christian Life Center (710 NE 36th Street, Ankeny, IA). A Celebration of Life will follow the visitation at the same location.

Scottie was born on June 15, 1987, in Denver Colorado. He graduated from Norwalk High School and went on to earn a degree in Art from the University of Iowa. He was active in the Boy Scouts as a young boy, beginning a lifelong love of the outdoors. He especially enjoyed camping and spending time in nature creating many wonderful memories along the way.

Scottie proudly served his country for 12 years in the National Guard and was deployed to Iraq from 2010-2011. During his tour, he worked as a mechanic on CH-47 Chinook helicopters. He took great pride in his service and dedication to his fellow soldiers and country.

He loved grilling and especially enjoyed smoking a good pork butt. Sharing food and good times with family and friends was something he truly enjoyed. He was an avid football fan and especially enjoyed cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Denver Broncos. Saturdays were a special time for him as family always gathered to watch the Hawkeye games and share good times together.

Scottie is survived by his mother and stepfather, Carmen and Kevin Knoner; his father, Bruce Henry; his beloved brother and best friend, Sam (Macey) Henry; grandparents, Darrel and Sedell Bishop; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and his dear friend, Brent Brumm and family.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Shirley Henry; his aunt and uncle, Deb and Tim Shelley; his uncle, Brian Henry; and his step grandfather, Keith Knoner.
