Obituary For Bruce Williams
Bruce Williams passed away on December 17, 2024, at the age of 94.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd, Ankeny, IA) with burial to follow at Ankeny Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
He was born on November 4, 1930, to Alfred and Tessie Williams and grew up on the farm in Casey, Iowa. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Army and was deployed during the Korean War. Upon his return, he met the love of his life, Donna, and they were married for 67 years. They raised three girls, Judy, Joan and Janet in Polk City and Ankeny. He worked as a tire builder at Firestone where he retired in 1992, and was a volunteer firefighter.
Bruce was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and camping and spending many summers in Canada. Later in life they enjoyed the warm winters in Arizona. He enjoyed watching all kinds of sports on TV, especially the Hawkeyes.
Bruce is survived by his daughters, Judy Erickson and Janet (Greg) Hanson; brother, Dean (Sherry) Williams; granddaughters, Angie Erickson and Marie Herring; son-in-law, Randy Herring, and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Preceding Bruce in death are his wife, Donna Williams; daughter, Joan Herring; parents, Alfred and Tessie Williams, and brother, Raymond Williams.
