Bruce Alan Rasmussen, age 68, of Unionville, Missouri, passed away on August 12, 2025, peacefully in his home. Bruce, the son of Richard and Iola (Selander) Rasmussen, was born January 26, 1957, in Emmetsburg, Iowa.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd). A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at St. Luke The Evangelist Catholic Church (1102 NW Weigel Drive, Ankeny, IA). Burial will follow at Ankeny Memorial Gardens.
Bruce attended high school at Emmetsburg High School. After graduation, he married the love of his life, Julia (Joynt) Rasmussen, on December 19, 1975. This December, Bruce and Julia will celebrate their 50th anniversary.
He started his career at Emmetsburg Printing Company. He then continued his career at Heartland Press where he worked for many years. Bruce was a friend to all and many of his clients and colleagues became lifelong friends.
Bruce enjoyed spending his time at his home on Lake Thunderhead in Unionville, Missouri. He loved to go boating, ride around in his golf cart, take his grandkids tubing, play card games, and enjoy the wildlife. Bruce had a great community of neighbors around him at the lake where he found his circle of friends. Bruce also had a very strong faith and loved his church community at St. Mary.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Julia Ramussen; his children, Jill (Curt) Sullivan and Adam (Evelyn) Rasmussen; his grandchildren, Nolan, Maci, and Charlie (Sullivan) and Caitlyn and Carrigan (Rasmussen); his sisters, Kathleen Baltisberger and Marilyn (Mike) Banwart; his brother by choice, Boots; and many other loving family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Iola (Selander) Rasmussen; his brothers, Ronald and Richard Rasmussen; his brother-in-law, Jack Baltisberger; and his granddaughter, Brenna Grace Sullivan.
Bruce’s dad and brother passed away when Bruce was young, so the Joynt family took him under their wings and embraced him. Bruce always said he added a little class to the Joynt family.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Hospice of Northeast Missouri for the exceptional care for Bruce during his final days.

Julia and family So sorry for your loss. May your wonderful memories out weigh your sorrow. Kay Waldron
My one of my earliest memories of my little brother was our older sister Kathy and myself dressing Bruce up as close to a girl we could get done even a lady's head scarf on his head. Kathy and I thought it was hilarious and Bruce didn't seem to care so we all played like that often until Bruce got it figured it out and put a stop to it!
Julia and family, so sorry for your loss. You are all in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
So sorry for your loss Bruce was my print sales manager for years and I really enjoyed him, he was a great guy he will be missed.
