Obituary For Bonnie Holm

Bonnie Holm, 91, passed away at Rock Creek Senior Living in Ankeny on Dec. 17, 2024.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (517 SW Des Moines St., Ankeny, IA) with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Bonnie was born on Oct. 6, 1933, in Story City to Cliff and Hilda Soren. She graduated from Story City High School and the Methodist School of Nursing in Des Moines.

She worked as a registered nurse for the Internal Medical Clinic in Des Moines for decades before eventually finishing her nursing career with a part-time position at John Deere in Ankeny.

Bonnie married her high school sweetheart, Tom Holm, on Oct. 1954,954 and lived in Des Moines for 11 years before moving in 1965 to Ankeny, where they raised their two sons.

Music was a huge part of Bonnie's life. She and Tom sang in the church choirs for most of their lives, and she often sang as a soloist at funerals and weddings. She also joined a church circle as her faith was a big part of her life. She enjoyed traveling with her family.

Bonnie was preceded in death by Tom and her son, John. Bonnie is survived by her son, Dan (Jennifer) of Ankeny, her daughter-in-law Susan of Beavercreek, Ohio, and three grandchildren: David (Rachael) of Columbus, Ohio, Sarah of Black Mountain, N.C., and Jeydon (Ariana) of Kansas City, Mo.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
