Obituary For Beverly Jean Goodman

Beverly “Jean” Goodman, 93, formerly of rural Melbourne, Iowa, passed away on August 23, 2026, at The Willows in Marshalltown, Iowa.

A visitation will take place from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church (206 1st Ave. South, State Center, IA). The funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m., also at the church. Private family burial will be held at Melbourne Cemetery immediately following the service.

Jean (Denison) Goodman was born November 14, 1932, in Armstrong, Iowa, to Boyd and Ola Denison. The family moved to Marshalltown, Iowa where Jean attended school, graduating in 1950. Jean married Eugene “Lefty” Goodman on January 25, 1951, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. From this union two children were born, Julie and Jill.

Jean worked at Lennox Industries her entire career doing various jobs including switchboard, credit, and the distribution warehouse before she retired in 1998.

Jean was a member of Trinty Lutheran Church, State Center. She loved to dance, especially when she and Eugene attended dances on Sunday nights. She loved watching her children and grandchildren play sports and show at fairs.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Julie (Matt) Randall and Jill (Terry) Shaffar; 5 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many other loving family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Goodman; parents, Boyd and Ola Denison; and her sister and brother.
