Obituary For Ann Elisabeth Reiter

Ann Elisabeth Reiter, 86, passed away October 29, 2026, at Green Hills Health Care Center in Ames, Iowa.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd., Ankeny) followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. Ann was born March 3, 1940, in Alton, IL, to Ray and Virginia (Heinrich) Foster. She graduated from Edwardsville High School in 1958. On January 19, 1963, Ann married Kenneth Reiter and together they had three children. Ken preceded her in death on October 14, 2014.

During the early years of their marriage, Ann was a stay-at-home mother. After Ken’s 1976 ordination into the ministry, the family moved to Iowa where Ken served United Church of Christ congregations in Cromwell, Eagle Grove, Keokuk, DeWitt, and Madrid and Ann worked in administrative and bookkeeping positions, jobs she enjoyed very much.

After retirement, Ann and Ken settled in Ankeny, Iowa. Ann enjoyed using the bandsaw for the many woodworking projects they made together and was also a talented needleworker. She taught Sunday school, sang in the church choir for many years, and volunteered at the public library and elementary schools in Ankeny. She loved spending time with her five grandchildren.

Ann is survived by her children, Karen (Brent) Schleuger of Fort Dodge, Susan (Norman) Cloud of Ames, and Keith (Heather) Reiter of Ankeny; her grandchildren, Kyle Schleuger, Katie Cloud, Evan Reiter, Hannah Cloud, and Abby Reiter; sister-in-law, Lynn Reiter of Hamel, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her cousins, Kenneth and Donald Gehrig and their spouses; ten brothers-in-law; and eight sisters-in-law.
