With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Ana Stare, who peacefully and unexpectedly left this world on February 23, 2025, at the age of 87.

A Mass in celebration of Ana’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Church (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd) in Ankeny.

She was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, whose warmth and love touched all who knew her. Ana was born on June 19 in Bosnia & Herzegovina, where she spent her early years before relocating to Germany and eventually making the United States her home.

She lived a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and kindness. She married Dragutin Stare, and together they shared 54 years of marriage. Ana will be remembered for her sense of humor, her love for her family, and her dedication to her Catholic faith. She loved music, baking, and dogs of all kinds. Known for spending hours calling friends and family all around the world, she was happiest in the company of her loved ones.

Ana is survived by her sons, Vladimir and Damir; her daughter-in-law, Snjezana; and her granddaughter, Marina (Steven), who will forever cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her nine siblings, and many dear family members and friends.

Her love and legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
