Karen Sue (Youker) Good, 74, of Ankeny, passed away quietly in the early morning of September 14, 2026.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 North Ankeny Blvd, Ankeny IA). Inurnment will take place at a later date.

Karen was born August 2, 1952, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Jack and Audrey Youker. She called the farm west of Marshalltown her home, and the Iowa School of the Deaf in Council Bluffs her “home away from home”. She graduated in 1970, married, and returned to the farm to settle. She bore a son, Robert Dean (RD) Callahan. After losing RD in a tragic farm accident, she traveled and settled for a time, in both Indiana and Idaho.

Upon returning to Iowa, she became active in the Des Moines Association of the Deaf and met the love of her life, Mike Miller. They moved to Ankeny and spent 32 years together. Karen continued to be active in the deaf club, helping with administration for many years. She also enjoyed bowling, and sewing special gifts for friends and family, especially her nieces and nephews.

Karen is survived by her significant other, Mike Miller; siblings, Jan (Gary) Pfantz, Jody Skinner, Roger Youker, and Gert (Ricky) Youker-Raney; Mike’s father, Dave Miller; Mike’s sister, Beverly (Dan) Kerr; nieces and nephews, Sara Reece, Neil (Sadie) Pfantz, Joel (Amanda) Thill, Jesse (Amanda) Thill, Stef Thill, Heather Skinner, Justin Kerr, and Sarah Kerr; great nieces and nephews, Maverick Reece, Branch Reece, Rylee Pfantz, Manning Pfantz, Boone Pfantz, Jaycee Pfantz, Evelyn Snyder, Em Snyder, Averie Thill, Tyler Thill, and Abby Snyder.

Karen was preceded in death by her son, RD Calahan; parents, Jack and Audrey (Rucker) Youker; and Mike’s mother, Bonnie (Smith) Miller.
