Carolyn Ada Zuck, 89, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2026, in Clive, Iowa.
A visitation will be held from 2:00p.m. to 4:00p.m. on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd). A private graveside service will be held at Ankeny Memorial Gardens.
Carolyn was born on June 27, 1937, in Hamburg, Iowa, to Weston and Fleta (Hunt) Bruce. Carolyn graduated from Hamburg High School in 1955 and was a 1959 Iowa State Teacher’s College (UNI) graduate where she majored in music education and where she was crowned Old Gold Queen in 1959. Carolyn participated in band and choir in both high school and college.
She married Donald Zuck in 1959 and later welcomed two children, Laura and David.
She made her career working as a music teacher in Ankeny and North Polk school districts, teaching both vocal and instrumental as well as private piano and voice lessons. Carolyn was actively involved in PEO, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and Questers.
Carolyn was the pianist and choir director at Ankeny United Church of Christ and an accompanist for Act II (Ankeny Community Theatre). Carolyn had a love for music, entertaining, antiques, playing bridge and bunco, spending time with her grandchildren, and cheering on the Iowa State Cyclones and Chicago Cubs. She will be lovingly remembered for sharing her gift of music through teaching and beautiful piano playing, inspiring many, and for her heartfelt notes of kindness and gratitude.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Donald Zuck; children, Laura (Bill) Walljasper and David Zuck; brother, Keith Bruce; grandchildren, Hannah (Toby) Wall, Carson (Bailee) Walljasper, Katelyn Walljasper (Grant Anderson), Brody Zuck, Mason Zuck, Katherine Zuck, and Audrey Zuck; great-grandchildren, Micah and Delaney Wall; as well as other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Weston and Fleta Bruce; sisters, Barbara Stanley and Karen Dovel; brothers-in-law, Jim Stanley and Harry Dovel; and sister-in-law, Beth Bruce
Memorials may be made to Ankeny Art Center Building Campaign, which her husband is co-chairing.
