Judith Marlene Spiert

09/08/1938 - 05/20/2026

Judith “Judy” Spiert, age 87, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, at Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone, Iowa, where she had been a resident for nearly four years.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 12, 2026, at Eastern Star Masonic Home (715 W Mamie Eisenhower Ave, Boone, IA), where Judy spent the last years of her life. The service will be followed by root beer floats at her request. A private family service in Ohio will be held at a later date.

Judy was born on September 8, 1938, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, and grew up in Cadiz, Ohio. In 1959, she moved to Columbus, Ohio, where she worked for the Columbus Police Department and met her former husband, C.N. “Spook” Spiert.

Judy spent much of her life in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, where she devoted herself to raising her family. She worked for many years as an assistant librarian at the local high school and held various receptionist positions in medical clinics and hospitals throughout her lifetime.

Her family was always her greatest priority, and she took immense pride in each of their accomplishments. Judy was outgoing, warm, and known for her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor, which became delightfully sassy in her later years. She had a deep and abiding faith, cherished her many close friendships, and truly never met a stranger. Judy had a gift for making everyone feel valued and important.

She loved music and was often seen dancing to songs she loved most, especially those by Elvis Presley and Creedence Clearwater Revival. In her memory, when you hear “Proud Mary,” please do a little dance in her honor.

She is survived by her children, Lisa Griffith (Joe Crane) and Don Spiert (Tina); her four grandsons, Nathan Griffith (Kelli Jo), Ryan Griffith (Grace), Nick Spiert, and Sutton Spiert; her three great-grandchildren, Barrett, Navy, and Emerson; her brother, Richard “Bud” Warrington (Cindy); and nephews, Brian and Troy Warrington.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Grace Warrington, and longtime partner, John Parks.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone, Iowa, would be greatly appreciated, in gratitude for the exceptional care and compassion they showed Judy during her final years.
