Harry B. Stout, 87, of Polk City passed away May 2, 2026.
A visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd, Ankeny, IA) with a graveside service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Ankeny Memorial Gardens.
Harry was born March 14, 1939, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Miles & Ruth Stout. He graduated from Ankeny High School in 1957, and married his high school sweetheart, Myrna Loveland, later that year on December 31st. They made their home in Ankeny until 1989 when they moved to a newly built home in Polk City. Together they raised two amazing daughters, Stephanie Ann and Kristin Kay.
Harry worked with his parents, where they owned and operated Ankeny Dry Cleaners until 1986. He then went to work as the grounds superintendent for Ankeny Golf and Country Club for many years. Always needing to stay busy, he later worked for Gilchrist Lumber Company until he finally retired in 2024.
He was an outdoors man. He enjoyed hunting deer and pheasants and was an avid fisherman. He “dabbled” in golfing in his later years.
Harry is survived by his daughters, Stephanie McQuistan and Kristin (Ward) Schneider; grandchildren, Shannon Matteson, Katie McQuistan, Anthony (Madison Agey) Schneider, and Adam (Christine) Schneider; as well as his great-grandchildren, Karson Heath, Kinzleigh Heath, Maddie Matteson, Joshua Matteson Jr., Graham Schneider, Greyson Schneider, and Isla Rayne Hanson.
