Nathan “Nate” David Sanderson, 43, passed from this life into the presence of his Lord on Monday, April 27, 2026.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N Ankeny Blvd). A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026, at New City Church (849 S. Ankeny Blvd). Burial will take place immediately following the service at Ankeny Memorial Gardens. Nathan was born on May 7, 1982, in Ames, Iowa to Dave and Shelley (Miller) Sanderson. He grew up in Ankeny and graduated from Ankeny High School in 2001. During high school, Nathan was very involved with Boy Scouts. He obtained the Order of the Arrow membership and earned Eagle Scout status. Nathan loved working in the transportation business. He was a bus driver for CyRide and then CIT Signature Transportation. He then moved to the logistic side of the business, working as a shipping manager for YRC.

Nathan’s greatest joy in life was his children, Kaci and Kyle. During his time at Sheepgate, he committed his life to Jesus. Faith became his cornerstone and was a source of strength, comfort, and guidance. After graduation from Sheepgate, Nathan became a founding member of New City Church. His faith deepened and he built meaningful friendships that he cherished. Nathan’s hobbies were playing with his kids, working on cars, fishing, hiking, and anything outdoors.

Nathan is survived by his children, Kaci and Kyle; mother, Shelley Sanderson; sister, Kristie (Darren) Semrow; nieces, Maddie, Emma, and Raegan Semrow; grandparents, Velma Frank and Avery Sanderson; and many cousins, aunts, and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dave Sanderson; and grandparents, Robert and Georgia Miller and Wayne Griffith.

All memorial contributions will be held and reserved for the long-term benefit and future needs of Nathan’s children.
