Danny Ray Hawxby, 65, passed away March 6, 2026, at his home in Des Moines, IA.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd). Family will greet friends an hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Danny was born on December 14, 1960, in Des Moines, IA, to Wallace and Rea Hawxby. He graduated Tech High School, and went on to work for Unity Point at Home for several years. He met Penny Machir and they married on September 18, 1982.
Danny enjoyed racing with his boys and fishing when he was younger. His greatest joy was spending time with his boys.
He is survived by his wife, Penny Hawxby; sons, Justin (Charlie) Hawxby, and Chris Hawxby; grandchildren, Sydney Hawxby, Chloey Hawxby, and Bryden Hawxby; siblings, Alecia (Terry) Patterson, Angela (Scott) Kinney, and Leah (Denny) Beery; and his in-laws, Ronnie (Deb) Machir, Pam (Randy) West, Paula (Mark) Ruths, and Patty (Kris) Robinson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Rea Hawxby; parents-in-law, Ron and Ona Machir; grandson, Jax Hawxby; brother, John Hawxby; and his favorite dog, PA.
