Joann "Joni" Moore-Dougherty, 74, of Ankeny, passed away on February 19, 2026.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 27, 2026, at Lutheran Church of Hope (520 NW 36th St., Ankeny, IA) with a memorial service following at 11:00 a.m. and a luncheon to follow the service. A private family graveside service will be held at Ankeny Memorial Gardens.
Joni was born in Oelwein, Iowa, on August 13, 1951, to Dale and Anne Rosenstiel. She was an avid Beatles fan and attended Beatles concerts. She graduated from Sacred Heart in 1969 and graduated college from Grand View University later in life.
Joni worked at the Phone Company and DMACC in financial aid.
Joni had a passion for Iowa sports. She could always be found cheering for her Iowa Hawkeyes whether it was football or basketball, she never missed a game. She also had a love for cooking and shared her love of monkey bread and famous rigatoni with her family.
But most of all Joni had a love for her family and grandkids. She would attend as many dance competitions, baseball games, soccer games, and basketball games as she could.
Joann is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Chad) Harned; son, Jay Moore; grandchildren, Hayes, Emerson, and Elliott; siblings, Bill (Robin) Rosenstiel, Marti (Glenda) Rosenstiel, and Jean Rosenstiel; and many nieces and nephews.
The family encourages everyone to wear Hawkeye attire to the service to honor her love for the Hawkeyes.
