Judy Ann Bookwalter, 77, passed away February 2, 2026, in Ankeny, Iowa.

A celebration of life will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Polk City American Legion Post 232 (114 W. Broadway St., Polk City).

Judy was born January 21, 1949, in Red Oak, Iowa, to Marshall and Roberta Rea. She worked for over 20 years for Des Moines Area Association of Realtors and was often referred to as the “Lockbox Queen”.

Judy loved being surrounded by family and friends and had a true gift for making people laugh. She never knew a stranger and had a way of making everyone feel welcome. She will be remembered for her deep love and devotion to her family, especially the joy she found in supporting her daughter and son and attending her grandchildren’s activities.

Summer was her favorite season and she cherished time spent at Lake of the Ozarks with her sister, Connie, and brother-in-law, Jack, as well as trips to the Iowa State Fair with the entire family.

Judy is survived by her daughter, Michelle Orosco of Ankeny; son, Brian Bookwalter of Topeka, Kansas; five grandchildren; sister, Connie (Jack) Figley of Ankeny; nieces, nephews, and many good friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Marshall and Roberta Rea; and brother, Roger Rea.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League.
