Marilyn Maxine Tracy

02/22/1935 - 01/16/2026

Marilyn Tracy was born on February 22, 1935, in Cromwell, Iowa, to George and Blanche Taylor.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Lloyd Tracy; and her siblings, Darlene Mayne, Harold Taylor, and Rene Heimbaugh.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Kristie Stonebreaker of Waukee, Kathie Owenson of Grimes, and Mike Tracy of Waukee; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and her brother, Marvin Taylor of West Des Moines.

After graduating from Leon High School in 1953, Marilyn began her career in the clerical field, working for First Iowa Credit Union and Dial Finance. She later concluded her career with a 24-year tenure as a secretary at Hy-Line International, Inc. in West Des Moines.

In retirement, Marilyn spent 20 of her winters in Mesa, Arizona, at Val Vista Village, where she formed many lasting memories and friendships. She enjoyed traveling the country in their RV, bowling, community activities, and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes. Above all, she treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Marilyn spent her final chapter at Attivo Trail Luxury Apartments in Waukee, where she continued to bring joy to the community around her. Her motto was, “Keep smiling and dancing, as it’ll keep you happy and young.” Marilyn will be greatly missed.
