Phyllis A. Seuferer, 87, of Ankeny, passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon, July 27, 2025, in her home.
In remembrance of Phyllis’ life, a rosary will be prayed for her at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025, followed by a visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart Catholic Church (510 E. 1st St., Ankeny). Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m.
Phyllis was born May 1, 1938, on a farm outside Bondurant, Iowa to William (Tiffin) and Nellie Tomlinson. She attended school in Bondurant and graduated in 1956.
Phyllis was married to Paul on October 19, 1957, in Elkhart, Iowa. They lived in several states but spent most of their married life in Marshalltown, Iowa, where they raised six children. After Paul’s retirement, they enjoyed wintering in Texas, square dancing, playing cards and other games, and spending time with family. Hosting family get-togethers and planning gatherings for friends was always an important part of Phyllis’ life. But it was talking to and interacting with children that brought the brightest light to her eyes, whether they were relatives or strangers she passed by.
Phyllis will be remembered for her many delectable dishes and desserts, her kindness to others, her outstanding planning and organizing talents and her infectious laugh.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Melvin (Shawn) Seuferer, Edward (Ann) Seuferer, Judy Seuferer, Janet (Richard) Dressman, and Joann Weuve; seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul; son, Thomas; and her siblings, Gerald Tomlinson and Nadine Zimmer.
Memorials in Phyllis’ name may be directed to her family for a later designation.
