Ting “Kaelyn” Zhu, 44, of Ankeny passed away peacefully on January 24, 2025.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. with a time of sharing at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd).
Kaelyn was born February 22, 1980, in Shanghai, China. Her parents are Yongfa and Jianfang Zhu. Kaelyn graduated from Shanghai Dianji University. She married Greg Chen in 2003, and their only son, Howie, was born in 2007.
In Jan 2019, Kaelyn was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer with bone metastasis. Her journey to fight for cancer started.
In September 2023, Kaelyn moved to Ankeny with Greg and Howie. She continued fighting for cancer with the care given by Dr. Hiatt’s team from Mission Cancer Blood Des Moines and Dr. Soni and Rebekah from Mercy One Des Moines East Village Clinic, Palliative Care.
In November 2024, Kaelyn transferred to Mercy One Hospice Care. The family would like to thank Patty and team for the exceptional care for Kaelyn during her final weeks and days.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Mercy One Hospice and Mercy One Palliative Care.
