Donald Thomas Donovan, Sr., 88, of Ankeny, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025.

Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd, Ankeny, IA) with the funeral service immediately following at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Ankeny Memorial Gardens.

Don was born December 22, 1936, to Alice and Vincent Donovan. He grew up on a farm in Castle Grove, IA and attended Monticello High School where he lettered in football, baseball, and track.

Don was drafted into the United States Army in 1958. He was stationed in New York City, living off base in New Jersey where he met Maryanne Keenan, his wife and the mother of his children.

He was a huge Packers, Dodgers, and Hawkeye fan. Don also loved hunting. He and two friends went hunting together once a year for 50 years.

Don is survived by his sister, Janet (Kenny); son, Mark (Nancy); daughters, Kelly (Tony) and Deanna (Garth); five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Vincent; first wife, Maryanne Keenan; second wife, Pegi Davis; brothers, Dean and Denis; son, Donald Thomas Jr.; and his sister, Marilyn, who passed away the same day.
