Dennis R. Aukes, 82, passed away on March 3, 2025. He was born September 2, 1942, in Buffalo Center, IA the son of Don and Mabel (Albers) Aukes.

A private graveside service will be held at Ankeny Memorial Gardens.

After graduating from Britt High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve for six years. In 1962, Denny married his high school sweetheart, Charlene, with whom he had two sons: Troy and Travis.

In 1967 he began employment with the Iowa Department of Transportation, retiring in 2006 after thirty-nine years of service. After retiring, Denny enjoyed traveling, feeding birds, and outdoor work.

Denny was preceded in death by his parents and other family members. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Charlene; his children, Troy (Lori) and Travis (Nory); grandchildren, Ashley and Camry; and one great-grandchild, Monroe.
